Who I am
This site is run by Taurenelle, an author based in New York City. If you have any questions about this policy or your information, contact privacy@townsendmare.com
What I collect
When you subscribe to the newsletter, I collect your email address and, if you provide it, your name. That’s it.
When you email me: I collect whatever you choose to include in your message.
Automatically, when you visit: like most websites, this site’s hosting provider records basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you visit. This is used to keep the site running and secure. I use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site. It collects anonymized information about your visit, such as pages viewed and time spent on the site.
How I use it
1) To send you the newsletter you signed up for, including your free story.
2) To reply to you if you contact me.
3) To keep the site working, secure, and free of spam.
Note: I will never sell, rent, or trade your information.
Services I rely on
A few trusted third parties help run this site, and they handle some of your information on my behalf:
Kit.com manages the newsletter and stores subscriber emails.
SiteGround hosts the website.
Google reCAPTCHA protects the sign-up form from bots. Its use is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
Each of these services has its own privacy policy governing how it handles data.
Cookies
This site uses a small number of cookies, small files stored in your browser, to function properly and to remember things like whether you’ve already subscribed.
Analytics cookies help me understand which pages people enjoy. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work as intended.
The newsletter
Every email I send includes an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click and you’re off the list, no questions asked and no hard feelings.
How long I keep your information
I keep your email address for as long as you’re subscribed. If you unsubscribe or ask me to delete your information, I’ll remove it, except for anything I’m legally required to keep.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, including the EU, the UK, and in the US state of California, you may have the right to:
1) see the information I hold about you,
2) correct it,
3) ask me to delete it, or
4) object to how it’s used.
To make any of these requests, email privacy@townsendmare.com, and they will respond within 30 days.
Children
This site isn’t directed at children under 13, and I don’t knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has signed up, email privacy@townsendmare.com, and it will be deleted.
International visitors
This site and its service providers are based in the United States. If you visit from elsewhere, your information may be processed in the U.S.
Changes to this policy
If I update this policy, I’ll change the date at the top. Significant changes will be announced in the newsletter.
