Exceeding Humanity
by Taurenelle
I was always proud of you, my brave, brilliant boy. Proud of your curious mind, which sought to solve your riddled body. Proud of your courage, when I entombed it in lifeless steel.
I thought I’d see your fervor in those cold, painted eyes, hear your laugh through that distant, tinny voice. But I only hear your oiled joints haunt our bitter home, and watch your sanity slip with each bump into the desk you no longer love, each fumble into a bed you no longer need.
Now we both feel nothing.
Because I loved when I should have lost.
