The sorrowful end of silence

by Taurenelle

The world got busy

and looked toward the stars

forgetting the bodies that filled her fields

shunning the silence that graced her pews.

She forwent forever for the now

making friends with the mistaken

while untrained tongues spoke out of turn

in the language of their neighbors.

Seduction danced on her screens

and slowly won her favor

praying to the singing seated

and granting a collar to every shirt.

Cacophony filled her halls

as the copyists were copied

letting sweet silence slip through

their heavily notated books.

She traded supplication for confusion

as the lord waited in our palms

and we waited for something

with fewer strings.

Her hallow grew hollow

and cold

relentlessly meandering

always ever louder.

Crying for the end

of sorrow

screaming for the return

of silence.
