The Annex
by Taurenelle
In an annex
just outside of campus
where classes are never held,
sits an empty room.
And on its windowsill,
a book
full of pictures
of students who have died
visiting the annex.
It is detailed
and colorful,
and not for the faint of heart.
There is no appendix,
only empty pages
hungry
waiting to be turned.
In an annex
just outside of campus
no one can hear you beg
but the artist.
There wasn’t a door
when you entered
yet you heard it lock
behind you.
Your page turns.
Like the others,
you don’t believe
until
it’s too late.
