Taurenelle is a New York City-based author whose work—and general disposition—sit somewhere between ancient elegy and modern absurdity, between deep world-building and characters who just want to watch it all burn.
Drawing on his education in Classical Philology, his love for Roman and Ancient Greek poetry, and bad comedy films from the late 1900s, his work carries genuine emotional weight wrapped in prose that reads like it was written by someone who fought in the Punic Wars—with humor that arrives precisely when you least expect it.
His flash fiction piece, I told you this was a poem, won the Not Quite Write Flash Fiction Prize, earning him a Pushcart Prize nomination. An excerpt from his debut novel, Deep Lore, landed him on the 2024 Granum Foundation Longlist, and his short fiction has been shortlisted and published by Twist Magazine, Theater Six, and three Not Quite Write anthologies.
